Communications: without it we would be confused and misunderstood!

Communication is necessary for every individual no matter their occupation in life. Every individual needs communication skills in order to successfully portray his or her feelings, desires, aspirations, and so forth. The world would be a confusing place if it were not for good communicators. For example, many Americans are unhappy with the “global struggle” in Iraq because of the poor communication skills of President Bush. He may have a selfless plan to help liberate the Iraqis, but no one will know his true aspirations because of his poor communication skills. Clear communication is necessary not only in politics and the media, but also in relationships with friends, family members, co-workers. Proper communication creates good feelings and understanding between different people. Communications is the best major because every person, business, or country can benefit from good communication skills. Furthermore, the communications major at BYU is taught not only to improve communication between people and groups of people, but also between individuals and God. In my study of Communications at BYU I have learned that in order to communicate with God we need to put forth the effort to ponder and pray. Then we must listen to his communication back to us through use of the scriptures, modern day prophet, the Holy Ghost’s promptings, and church leaders. Communications is the best major at BYU because it allows people, businesses, countries, and God to be better understood.
