Dating

Dating is very popular for singles at BYU. Usually it is the guy who asks the girl out on the date. Often girls get frustrated when no guys ask them out. They complain to innocent guys, such as myself about dating problems. I usually don’t know what to give them as advice. I only say one thing. I tell them to be the ones to ask the guys out. Women have their free agency. If they don’t like something they have their choice. They can ignore it. They can also do something about it. If it bothers them enough they should do something about it. If it didn’t bother them then they wouldn’t have told anyone. Guys should be the ones to do most of the asking out. This is because it is our responsibility. That does not mean that girls can’t do any asking out. It probably is their responsibility to ask out a little too. Girls rarely ask guys out. Women need to be more proactive when it comes to dating.

This problem is caused by tradition. Women are now equal to men. Why shouldn’t they share the responsibilities when it comes to dating? Men can still plan most of the dates. But most women would probably not want guys to have all of the responsibilities. Girls can solve this problem. They can take initiative to go on more dates. Guys can also help. Guys can go on more dates than they normally do. It will encourage girls to ask guys out too.

Dating is very popular for singles at BYU. However, since it is the guy’s responsibility to ask the girl out on the date, this can be a problem for girls who never get asked out. Are they just supposed to keep waiting until eventually they do get asked out? Even though it is very frustrating, many girls will still wait, hoping that some guy will ask them on a date. Girls will sometimes vent on innocent guys who are trying to help the problem, such as myself. Instead of waiting to get asked out girls need to exercise their agency. If they really want to go on a date they need to be more proactive when it comes to dating.

This problem is caused because traditionally men ask the women out on dates. But that is because women have also not been treated equally to men in the past. They need to share at least some of the responsibility when it comes to dating. Otherwise they will not hold equal responsibilities when they get married. Even if guys still plan most of the dates, girls can plan a few. Most girls would probably not want the guy to take all of the responsibility so they can solve this by taking initiative and asking guys on dates. Guys can also help solve this problem by going on more dates than they normally would which will encourage girls to plan more dates too. BYU could also help the problem by making more cheap, fun things to do on campus such as dances and activities to motivate everyone to date more.
