Healthfullllll

Prioritizing a healthy lifestyle is difficult for many college students as it is an obstacle to allot their time among work, school and church in addition to their social lives. As a result, college age students function on little sleep and food that they grab on their way to campus. In addition, those who are not involved in sports or a physical activity class lack any aerobic exercise. So if we take a step back and look at the bigger picture, are we truly living the honor code at Brigham Young University? It is important for us to practice skills such as eating healthy, getting exercise, and obtaining enough sleep so that we can not only pay attention in class as students today, but later on to our families and work.

Many of us are tired after a long day at campus and we want nothing more than to have a warm cooked meal ready for us when we get home. Now that we are responsible for our own lives we can see how easy we had it before we moved out of the house. It is difficult to have the mind set of cooking a nutritious meal rather than stopping by Wendy’s or grabbing a Hot n’ Ready five dollar pizza. For busy college students who are on a low budget, it is appealing to eat a bowl of cereal, microwave meals, or fast-food.

Before entering college freshmen are forewarned about the “Freshman Fifteen,” the term used for the weight that students gain during their first year living away from home. Eating in the dormitory cafeterias can be an obstacle for those who wish to eat a healthy meal. The buffets, not only filled with fruits and vegetables, but waffles, pizza, donuts, and ice cream serve as an obstacle for those who wish to eat a balanced diet. What teenager in their right mind would choose celery sticks and carrots over pizza and a milkshake? All of us wish that we could control our raging taste buds at times like these. For this reason we need to practice making the right decisions because in the future we will not only be responsible for our own bodies but our childrens’ bodies as well.

Last semester I went to Taco Bell almost every day. this semester I made it a priority to eat healthier because I was way out of shape.
