The One That Matters Most

When I was little, life was simple, you knew what you wanted to be, and you knew what you wanted to do, and so you did it. As you looked upon the idea of getting older you realized the complexities of growing up. I knew when I was five years old I wanted to be a Shepard. However times have changed, BYU doesn’t have the major in certified “sheparding”, so I decided to follow suit of those I’ve seen become successful. A successful man once told me to be successful surround yourself with successful people, and have a passion for what you are doing.
I actually declared my major as communications. Lets face it, no questions asked. The best major in the entire world, is the one that you have a passion for. You really have to love it. In this major I have been completely thrilled on what I’m learning, this is what I have a passion for. I know that this major will give me the opportunity to devote myself to a cause, which in turn will make you more successful than you could ever imagine. You don’t have to love the homework and the time that it takes, but if it makes you happy, you will be successful. Comm. Studies is the emphasis that I have chosen which covers a lot of research on all sorts of subjects. It goes over the social sciences, statistics, writing and rhetoric, linguistics, business and so much more. You deal with people, and if you think about it, at one point or another every major deals with people. So why not learn how to be more effective in your dealing, why not learn how to be a more powerful and persuasive person. As well as learn why media is so powerful with its influence on us. You will come to know why we react the way we do to media and others. There are countless possibilities to grow and help others in this field. I feel that this major will help me be a better husband, a better father, a better citizen in the community. All of are majors applied correctly will affect the lives of countless others.
