A remedy for Choppiness

We should all abide by the BYU Honor Code. We should also live it twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The BYU Honor Code says that we should dress modestly. It also says that we should groom modestly. I have often seen the Honor Code broken. Many girls have worn short skirts and tried to make them more modest. They have done so mostly through leggings. I have also seen many guys on campus that break the honor code. The honor code says that “[h]airstyles should be…trimmed above the collar leaving the ear uncovered.” I have often seen males with hair that is too long. The honor code also says that “[s]ideburns should not extend below the earlobe or on the cheek.” I have seen males in my classes that break this rule. I have also seen males around campus outside of my classes. These males have also broken this rule.

We have been counseled by the leaders of the church. They have counseled us to follow all of the commandments. The scriptures even counsel us to do so in John 14:15. John 14:15 says “If ye love [the Lord], keep [his] commandments.” Being honest is a commandment. Part of the admittance process to BYU was signing the Honor Code. Every student at BYU has signed the Honor Code. We must be honest. To be honest, we must keep the Honor Code.

We should all abide by the BYU Honor Code, living it twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The BYU Honor Code says that we should dress and groom modestly. I have often seen the Honor Code broken by both males and females. Many girls have worn short skirts and tried to make them more modest by wearing tight black leggings underneath them. The honor code states that “[h]airstyles should be…trimmed above the collar leaving the ear uncovered,” and “[s]ideburns should not extend below the earlobe or on the cheek.” I have often seen males both in and outside of my classes that breaking this rule, with hair, and especially sideburns, that is considerably too long.

We have been counseled time and time again by the leaders of our church to follow all of the Lords commandments. The scriptures even counsel us to do so in John 14:15, which says “If ye love [the Lord], keep [his] commandments.” Being honest is a commandment. Part of the admittance process to BYU was signing the Honor Code, so clearly, every student at BYU has signed it. We must strive to be true BYU students and follow the Lord’s commandments by living the Honor Code here at BYU.
