This past weekend we all enjoyed a day off from classes in honor of President’s Day. It was a well earned break, however some of you may have noticed, as I did, that BYU doesn’t have any more days off for the rest of the semester. We only got 2 three day weekends and now that they are over we have to face 9 weeks straight of school. You would think that BYU would at least take a break for Easter, but obviously Easter is not as important to BYU as President’s Day is. BYU probably just doesn’t care enough about the students that celebrate Easter as a religious holiday. But of course, BYU doesn’t really care about any of its students. Every other college in America has a spring break except for BYU so why don’t we have one too. As a freshman here at BYU I know everything about this college. I also know that BYU students need more breaks during the winter semester. If BYU encourages students to ignore Easter then pretty soon BYU students won’t care about religion at all, then we will start breaking the honor code and from there it will just get worse and worse until BYU becomes such a bad school that no one will want to go to BYU anymore and it will have to close. I could continue on the endless list of reasons why BYU students need more breaks, but instead I’ll just say that BYU choosing to not celebrate Easter is a lot like them telling us to stop going to church, so we need to have an Easter/Spring break during the winter semester here at BYU.

I like your post and it made me laugh but at the same time depressed because of the unfortunate reality we are going to be in for the next 9 weeks. I like the hasty generalization that BYU doesn’t care about its students. Well at least they have security, electricity, and water fountains…
