My Major
As the world community continues to be drawn together by the forces of globalization and modernization it is of the utmost importance that a sense of cross-cultural understanding and a basis for international cooperation be found. The International Relations major offers a rigorous course of study in which students become more familiar with the world around them, the struggles, and the successes that exist in modern society. They are forced to expand their personal boundaries and to look at various world issues from different perspectives. By following this program, students are prepared to enter into a variety of different occupations, including international leadership and diplomacy. To complete this major, each student is required to achieve a relatively high level of fluency in a foreign language, a thorough understanding of political science, and the impact of economics on the world. In today’s world of politics and business, the ability to speak multiple languages is an asset that sets individuals above the rest of their colleagues. The ability to communicate opens the doors to a world of possibilities. The International Relations Major gives students the knowledge that they need in order to enter the world of politics, law, or different foreign agencies. The cultures, economies, and peoples that exist beyond the American border offer so much to learn from. By becoming more involved in the world as a whole, and not just through military means, Americans can help build and secure the emerging global community.

I like the way that you explained the International Relations major because I have always been curious as to what it actually is. It is great that so many people can learn about economics and politics and how they impact our world. Your major sounds really interesting and hopefully people like you can create world peace!
Just wanted to let you know that you did a great job explaining the IR Major. Unfortunately you did too good of a job. I am also in the IR major and you posted your blog before i did, leaving me with nothing else really to add about the best major. But hey no hard feelings, and yeah you really did do an awesome job.
Incredibly informative, almost bordering on a program summary brochure, but in you own words. International relations, political science, and so forth are excellent choices of promising futures. I mean, its not like the your job is going to end any time soon. And I do think becoming fluent in other languages is an awesome bonus to your major. Good luck.
