Why Nursing is the best major, especially at BYU!

Nursing is one of the best majors at Brigham Young University (BYU) because classes are led by experienced professors who are passionate about their field and filled with peers that are intelligent, dedicated students who are excited to make a difference in the world. I chose to major in Nursing because I am fascinated with the human body and I enjoy helping others. I am interested in many aspects of health and I would love to positively affect peoples’ lives by showing them how to take care of their body and helping them recover from illness. Health care has become more necessary than ever since our population is growing so rapidly. There is such a high demand for nurses because they play an important role in the hospital setting. Nurses are critical because they spend a great amount of time caring for patients, allowing doctors to assist more patients. Since staying in a hospital can be a stressful event, nurses can help their patients socially and emotionally. I know that I can obtain an education from BYU that will allow me to improve peoples’ lives physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. BYU, being a church-sponsored university, emphasizes the importance of living a healthy life and creating families. I hope that I can specialize in labor and delivery because giving birth is a beautiful and heart-warming experience. It would be exciting to go to work each day knowing that I could bring a new life into our world. I can see myself applying these skills on a daily basis while witnessing the happiness and joy of families as they hold their newborn in their arms.
