Syllogism #1
- Many people in Brazil are poor
- Many Brazilians use ethanol instead of gasoline
= Ethanol must be cheaper than gasoline
Syllogism #2
- Gasoline causes damage to the atmosphere
- Ethanol has much cleaner emissions
= If we don’t switch to ethanol we will destroy the atmosphere
Imagine spending all day, every day, driving around in a taxi trying to find people that need a ride across town, just to earn enough money to buy food for your family. You saved and sacrificed for years to earn the money to buy your taxi, and are desperately working to make enough money to make ends meet. In this situation, you start to find new ways to be efficient with your time and money: you find new fares as soon as possible, you work long hours to maximize the use of the car, and most importantly, you fuel your car with the cheapest available fuel: ethanol. Many people in Brazil are living in this situation today, and their consumption habits show this obvious conclusion: ethanol is more economic than gasoline.

You did a good job of relating the claims in your syllogism and the choice of using a situation that really happens in the world makes your writing sound more authoritative and dependable. You also did a good job avoiding passive voice.
your logic in #1 doesn't make sense: why does Brazil being poor mean ethanol is cheap? There doesnt seem to be a relation
Good paragraph, it brings in emotional appeals well and follows the logic of your syllogisms. However, your syllogisms make the reader have to make logical jumps. We have to infer that because poor Brazilians buy ethanol it is cheap. Try writing the syllogism so it is spelled out for the reader.
I don't know for sure but something seems a little off in the syllogism. I mean it works, but it isn't as simple as some of the examples in class, however, your subject is pretty complex. great job.
