Bad:

I like baseball. Baseball is the most fun game to play that has ever been invented. It was started here in the United States. It is considered our country’s pastime. There is no sport that is more American than baseball. It is the only major sport I can think of that was started in the United States. Baseball is the most American sport. Baseball is the hardest sport to play. It will always be that way.

Baseball is the hardest sport to play. It is very hard because of how hard it is to hit a baseball. The ball moves very fast and so it is very hard to hit the baseball. Pitchers can also put movement on the ball. Putting movement on the ball makes the ball curve. Pitchers also can slow the ball down too. Players have to be ready physically and especially mentally when hitting. It is important to stay focused when you’re hitting or else you will strike out. The ball will go right past you if you are not ready for it. Baseball is more of a mental game than a physical game.

Good:

Baseball is the one sport that is known as our great American pastime. It was started many years ago in this country and has continued to grow and grow ever since. Many people recognize that baseball is our Nation’s pastime but many people do not realize how difficult and challenging it is to hit a baseball. It’s not just about hitting the ball either; it’s about doing it well. Viewers of this sport tend to think that baseball is boring; this is because they do not understand how difficult it is to be good at it.

Hitting a baseball is much harder than people suppose it is and it is the most difficult thing to do in any sport. Imagine trying to hit a home run off of a pitcher that is throwing the ball 99 miles per hour. Not to mention that throwing the ball that fast isn’t enough, they can mix up pitches and throw curve balls, change ups, etc. Whether a pitch is a strike or a ball also plays a big factor. Mentally, hitters must be ready for anything and they must be able to react to a pitch in fractions of a second. They must also be physically strong enough to swing the bat quick and hard so that the ball will go somewhere once it hits the bat. This whole process, as I mentioned before, takes only a fraction of a second. There is no other action in sports that causes players to think and react in a time frame as short as this.
