Judging the celeberities

Bad paragraphs:

It seems that today is a world of cutting down. When the best selling magazines are tabloids whose main articles are about celebrity gossip, it seems that the LDS community is not the only community that loves to gossip. There are many things that we as the world community should do less of, and that is gossiping about politicians and celebrities. If the celebrities annoy you or you are tired of what they think then you have only yourself to blame. It is you who is feeding the media frenzy to get the newest info on what the celebrities think. If we all just paid a little less attention to them and paid less for their tabloid magazines then maybe we would here less of their political views and see less of their exploits. As it is for politicians it is slightly a different thing that I would like to mention and that is that we should not ride them so hard yes they make mistakes. I think if we let less of the media to get in the way by not trying to cut them down at every turn they would be able to achieve more.

When it comes to being judged there are many first hand experiences that I have experienced first hand. I had a best friend who was in the church and we became friends from the first day that he moved into the ward. However, as time went on he got into the wrong crowd and then began doing things that weren’t in harmony with the teachings of the church so that he could be accepted by the cool crowd. Then people began to gossip about him in the ward and all of his teachers in Sunday school saw him as the trouble kid and no one tried to help him or get to know him they just tried to ignore him or they would. This was very upsetting because even the kids in my ward would just avoid him and not talk to him because they thought that he was a bad kid. I still remained friends with him because I knew who he really was and he was one of the nicest kids. He told me the one day that I was his only friend in the church because no one talked to him because of the people he hung out with in school and what he did with those kids. Not to long after that he began to get into drugs and no longer went to church, this killed his parents. Especially when he was caught dealing drugs and put in jail. Later on that year he was excommunicated from the church and he told me that he did not want to try to get back into a church where everyone hated him.

Good paragraphs:

When you look at our society today you see that one of our favorite things that has spawned an industry making millions is us cutting down others. The best selling magazines are the magazines with pictures and articles with celebrities and politicians at the worst, and these magazines are any of the tabloids that you can always find in the checkout line in the grocery store just sitting there waiting for you to pick them up and fall into the media frenzy that is our world. It is really a despicable industry that has spawned from our desire to make ourselves feel better than the rich celebrities that we see. However, it is a double edge sword because we pay these celebrities to make movies we all want to go see and like and them we want to go home and see about their personal life so that way we can feel better about ourselves. I would admit I am guilty sometimes to because I love to watch VH1’s shows about the fabulous life of the rich and famous. It becomes ridiculous when we buy up all their magazines and watch all their stuff just to stay up on the gossip of what celeb is doing wrong and who is dating who. It really is not just the LDS community that likes to gossip but more like the human race. We all hear people saying I do not care about what Tom Cruise’s political views are but really if we are annoyed be it then why do we keep buying into the magazines and shows that tell us all about them if we all paid a little less attention to celebrity gossip then it would become a less prevalent part of our community.

When it comes to being judged there are many first hand experiences that I have experienced during my time in high school and especially in my senior year when people begin to define who they are. I had a best friend who was LDS and we became friends from the first day that he moved into the ward. The first two years of high school he was seen by everyone who knew him as a good kid who was following the principles of the LDS church. His coaches loved him because of the strong morals that he brought to the teams that he played in. However, as time went on he got into the wrong crowd because he wanted to be seen as cool just like any other high school student, and then began doing things that weren’t in harmony with the teachings of the church so that he could be accepted by the cool crowd. Then people began to gossip about him in the ward and all of his teachers in Sunday school saw him as the trouble kid and no one tried to help him or get to know him; but instead they just tried to ignore him or just write him off as going no were and leave it at that. This was very upsetting because even the kids in my ward would just avoid him and not talk to him because they thought that he was a bad kid; no one had the forethought that you could talk to him at church and that wouldn’t be a bad influence on you. I, unlike the others I knew, still remained friends with him because I knew who he really was and he was one of the nicest kids that I had ever met in my entire life. He told me the one day that I was at seminary with him, while we were going to school, that I was his only friend in the church because no one talked to him due to the rumors and other gossip that had been told about the people he hung out with in school and what he did with those kids. Not to long after that he began to get into drugs and no longer went to church, this killed his parents. Especially when he was caught dealing drugs and put in jail. Later on that year he was excommunicated from the church and he told me that he did not want to try to get back into a church where everyone hated him.
