The Earth is Warming! The Earth is Warming!

Just as Chicken Little ran around, screaming that the sky was falling, there are many people going around today screaming that the planet is warming up, and we are all going to be baked into oblivion. As a geology student, nothing annoys me more, than when people go around spouting ideas and nonsense coming out of the mouths of people like Al Gore, who have no background in Geology, or Climatology, but continue to spout out their inane drivel, because people will listen to them. The point of the matter is, the planet is heating up, but it is no where near the catastrophic fiery annihilation that the media reports to us.
For the past 4.55 billion years, the planet has always been going through climatological cycles. It gets warm, and it cools down. Sea levels rise, and sea levels lower. Humans are influencing climate change, toward the warmer areas. Ice core samples drilled from Antarctica and Greenland have proven that atmospheric greenhouse gas content has been rising over the past 150 years. Many people believe that the planet is warming to unnatural levels, but fail to realize that the global temperature during the Mesozoic era was much higher, than the temperature we see today. If you even want to get more technical, we are still in the decline of a major ice age. The sky is not falling, but I still wouldn't recommend letting your children buy beach front property. However you take it, please listen to the voices of respected geologists who have spent years of their life learning about geology, rather than the voices of people who are well practiced in rhetoric, when you make your decision about global warming.

This was great. I don't know that much about Global Warming and you taught me a lot. Your opening was fun, a little bit of a stretch but I liked it. Great Job

I like your title. It was so creative!

I think you did a really good job. In high school all my teachers were constantly telling us that the earth was warming up and it was our fault. For one class I was actually required to watch Al Gore’s movie. I am glad to know that it is not completely our fault that the earth is heating up.

I liked your post. But hopefully you address counter points in your paper. Yes, the Earth does go through normal climate changes. But just remember there are just as many well-respected scientists and geologist who do think that humans are a major cause of the Earth's warming, it's no just politicians like Al Gore who are gluttons for publicity.

I never said humans did not cause Global Warming. And this is just for the quiz. My opinion paper has nothing to do with global warming.
