As someone who has eaten at the Cougar Eat on several occasions, I am an expert in food service. I have recently noticed that it takes some food joints much too long to prepare their food. Many students believe that the real problem is the small number of restaurants that are in the Cougar Eat. They think that the small number of options is the problem but the real problem is the long amount of time it takes these restaurants to prepare the food. Customer service is all about preparing the food quickly and making your customers content and the Cougar Eat is not doing a good job of this. A short time ago, I was talking to a fellow student who told me that he had waited almost an hour to get food at one of the restaurants inside of the Wilkinson Center. In my opinion, that is too long to wait for a hamburger. If this continues, no one will want to eat there anymore and the Cougar Eat will go out of business. This one-hour-wait is a sure sign that the amount of time spent waiting on food is only sure to increase over time. One solution to this problem is to have students go on a little strike and stop eating at the Cougar Eat until they fix this waiting problem. This solution has worked at many different work firms to gain higher wages for workers and so it is sure to work in this situation as well. I hope we can all strive to fix this problem so that we can make our eating facilities on campus top-notch.
